
ABOUT G.E.M.S
G.E.M.S (Gifted Motivated Empowered Sisters) is a female empowerment initiative brought to fruition at the University of Kansas in 2018. Our focus is encouraging black women to access their voice and being black women of societal change.
In this organization we aim to encourage women to break barriers of societal norms and utilize their unique gifts to create lasting contributions to the world. We also encourage students to become leaders who implement real change in their communities. G.E.M.S allows black women to understand, access, and exhibit their skills and gifts through a professional and academic lens.
Our purpose is rooted is four objectives, we aim to achieve. First to equip women with the confidence to lead, succeed and challenge societal barriers and norms. Secondly form lasting relationships and healthy communities by creating an uplifting positive environment for black women to be expressive and creative. Thirdly provide resources and tools for women to enhance their talents, gifts and skills. Lastly encouraging black women to access their voice and prowess.
